Years ago at the Seattle PSARA annual August swap, I saw a receiver I could not identify. It took me a couple minutes to realize it was a heavily
restyled 348, and yes, it was a darn good job. I was amused, but ….i now wish maybe I had bought it; it was a real work, and I mean work of skill.
I still have a 348 with a new front panel, rack-mount sized. But oddly enough, all front panel controls and markings were retained as original on the
new front panel.
Do you remember the name August Link of Oceanside, CA ? He must have had a plentiful stack of the FT-154. When we did a major trade back
around maybe 1985, I got NIB FT-154 as part of the deal.
August also gave me a "spare part" I needed for a WW1 German spark transmitter I have. Now, who has spare parts for a WW1 spark transmitter ????
August's "thing" was new boxed military equipment pre-1945. Then remember his sell-off-athon for a few years? I was a good customer too.
