I will attest to the worth and wisdom of the docs on Ken’s site. I used them to guide getting my ATA and BC458A going. 

I, however, use an air variable cap across the output into coax.  Sounds counterintuitive but works very well. No spurs, harmonics are down nicely. I get 35-40 watts out with 550 VDC on the plates.
