[ARC5] Bias Battery

In the case of the GRC-9 receiver, space is not so limited that you could not use three AAA cells instead.  I thought the the original bias battery BT-1 looked like a nicad stack and since one cell broke loose from the others I at first assumed it was later hardware that somehow made it into the package.  

Has anyone tried cracking open a 9V battery and using the individual sells inside?

I still plan to continue with my rebuilding of the GRC-9 receiver with solid state tubes and have built my first 1L4 replacement I've been busy with other things.  My hot water heater started leaking on 23 Dec 2019 and the new one I had installed failed on 1 Jan 2020, just after I came down with the flu.
