Unless you consider its ground mate, the BC639/BC-640, although I suppose
they were developed simultaneously, probably contracted to Bendix at the
same time as well.

Isn't it also the first example of a plug-compatible design - where the
US-made model could be directly substituted for the UK-made model?  All I
know for sure is that the US-made model used UK-model connectors, so
presumably a UK cable harness could run a US-made '522.
