An article in Electric Radio Magazine some time ago showed that one can use the LF
Command receivers as a Q-5er for such as the BC-348 since the output from the receiver's
mixer is so full of harmonics. You just tune the LF receiver to a sub-harmonic of the "other"
receiver's IF.

On which bands, Jeep? Mine on 80 is S-9 most of the time: lower sometimes. On 40 it is S-7
most of the time, although much lower once in a while. On 20, it sits at S-1 most of the time.

A nearby pharmacy's neon sign, about 2 blocks away, was causing a 30 over S-9 noise
level here on 80 until the local power company's RFI guy found it and warned them.

Sometimes, one can track this crap down and kill or mitigate it.
