Yes. I have a constant battle here to keep that which is near me down to a reasonable level. 
My favorite Elmer, Woody Davey W7CJB, who was first licensed in the 1930s, told me once 
that the overall noise level had risen very significantly since the 1930s, mainly due to REA.
