75 year old fleet boats are not maintained in the condition that these aircraft are not are they subject to the very rigorous inspections the FAA put these aircraft through on a regular basis. And even newer boats have had catastrophic accidents that resulted in both the loss of life and loss of the boat ( USS Thresher, USS Scorpion are two of several ). That didn’t stop the US Navy from running subs. If maintained, there is nothing wrong with running older aircraft. Accidents happen. Calling for the grounding of these aircraft through simple ignorance is a knee- jerk reaction, is totally unnecessary, and as I said before is pure unadulterated BS.

There is much more value to the continued existence of a historic aircraft as a display than as a vehicle for in-flight jollies, giggles, and grins. A non-flying display could show the historical original without accommodations to 21st Century airworthiness and paying customers.
