Such simple assertions are always incorrect.
Are submarines made to submerge?
I'm very happy that historical WWII boats never do that (even though I was a submarine officer more than 45 years ago). We don't have old former submariners or their wannabes taking 75 year old fleet boats out with a bunch of high-paying passengers for a day cruise and a dive.
Perhaps it's time for owners to exercise similar prudence with old military aircraft. There is much more value to the continued existence of a historic aircraft as a display than as a vehicle for in-flight jollies, giggles, and grins. A non-flying display could show the historical original without accommodations to 21st Century airworthiness and paying customers.
