Good Evening Hue,

The Surplus Radio Conversion Manual, Volume III has the article.
I could scan it and send it to you if you want it. I also has the
schematic.

One of the 'surplus manuals' and/or a CQ article dealt with the challenge
of opening up the sealed CRC-7. "Challenge" I think is the right word.
I have not looked at mine in ages, but I seem to recall the actual
electronics section is soldered shut. But we would like to able to
demonstrate
the thing.
I am surprised to read that it was still in stock in 1953. Maybe the
URC-4 was just coming in then and the CRC-7 was in short order dropped.

The URC-4 I think a wonderful appearing radio with its pull out dipole
antenna. I thought it might be fun to delete some multiplier stages and
retune it to 10 meters so it could be demonstrated, but I don't know when
or if I will get to such a project. I just recently bought the Bird 6250
output power meter for this set. It has 250 mW full scale, nice little
meter, and not rare either. I have to admit I bought it actually for the
attraction of being able to compare power output from those no – license
low power CB walkie talkies.
