Scott, how many amps is your 24 vdc supply drawing while it's heating the part?
thanks-

OK, at the risk of going overboard, I will share with you my secret for heating set screws. I used to use a soldering iron, but I tend to be impatient, so it made a work coil for my induction heater that is a 1 ¼’ ID 3 turn coil of 12 AWG enameled copper I place it around the knob (plastic, bakelite, or even aluminum), and about 3 seconds is all it take to turn the setscrew red. Let it cool a bit, and it comes right out. You can buy cheap little switch mode induction heater kits on ebay for 15-20 bucks, they run well from a 24 VDC supply. I have a more elaborate induction heater , but the cheap ones work FB.
