I have a ARC RT-524M comm radio. Looks like a typical mid sixties hybrid
aircraft comm radio, tray mounted. Interesting thing is that it cover
136-149.5 MHz. Nicely made, nuvistors everywhere, transistor power supply
and modulator, 8156 final. Makes about 9.5 W. Works well on our local VHF
AM net.
My question is- Why was this thing made? I assume the military used in in
liaison aircraft of some sort. Anyone have a clue? The manual does not
shed any light on the matter.
