 While the ARC-5 and SCR-274 series may look alike, there are a couple of basic differences that you should be aware of.The receivers and racks are more or less interchangeable, functionally, yet there are some circuit differences beween these radios.No big deal.HOWEVER, there are BIG differences in the transmitters. They are NOT interchangeable, even the racks and rack sockets are different.  The modulators are different too.   ARC-5 TX are Plate Modulated while SCR-274 TX are Screen modulated..
Actual ARC 5 racks are hard to find for some reason. SCR-274 racks are much more common.EBay sellers don't seem to know the difference, so be careful .

The transmitter was a BC-950-A.  I’ve had/seen one.  Sold or traded it to Eric Jones in 2005.  Haven’t heard from him since 2008.  Does anyone know what became of him?

  

I’ve also had or have one or two T-23’s that judging by the empty holes in the chassis were once BC-950’s.  Never saw one of the receivers, though.

To add to Mike's excellent summary, there is a VHF version of scr 274 n. No manual for it has ever surfaced, but it is documented in Signal Corps training for the 274 n. I have one 1 complete and operational and I know of one other set. The 274 n army sets are quite scarce. The vast majority were converted to Arc - 5.
