The high voltage sign reminded me that when the SCR-183 / 283 set is
transmitting, lethal voltage of 350 VDC is present on the sleeve of the RF
AMP jack at the side of the transmitter. This sleeve is fully exposed when
the transmitter is out of its case. Apparently, a few cents were saved by
using a two-way jack mounted on an insulated bracket, instead of a
three-way with the sleeve grounded. Only a handful of enthusiasts including
myself are interested in these sets, but be warned!
