Well, thanks for your expertise, Richard.  But I have a number of used electrolytic caps (4000, 8000, 10,000 uf etc, at 40 to 70 VDC) that hold a charge for weeks on end with some degree of degradation, but probably at least 50% voltage left even a month later.

And I have brand new electrolytics that don't hold a charge nearly as well.

Which caps are good for filtering in DC power supplies?  All of them?
