[ARC5] BC-348

I’m contemplating the next project to take on and I’m leaning towards restoring my BC-348.  I bought it many years ago at a swap meet for $80 and set it on the shelf.  It eventually migrated to the back of the shelf and out of sight.  Other than some scraps and scratches on the cabinet, it looks new and unmodified.  No modifications inside or out.

It also has the dynamotor installed. I can’t imagine the dynamotor turns so I won’t bother firing it up before tearing it apart and relubricating it.   I have the matching shock mount with the Jones power plug too, acquired separately.

I’ll set it on the bench today and take another look inside.  I did a GOOGLE search and came up with at least 3 excellent restoration sites so that will be a big help.  I see the usual differences in restoration techniques where some just shotgun replace the mica caps, while others check the caps and only replace what’s bad.  I would prefer to do the check and only replace if necessary.  

Boy those 348’s are gorgeous.  Does anyone here actually use theirs on the ham bands?
