     Dave's Law of Technological Progress:
  "Old systems that work well will be replaced
     by new systems that don't."

There have already been some "close calls" for ships at sea
relying on GPS and INMARSAT. Human complacence and arrogance
(think Space Shuttle vs. Soyuz) eventually bite us, and
the more needlessly complex the system, the more chances of failure.
Just a matter of time.
