   Sad day, I’ve maintained the NDB at Deer Park for 10 or 15 years (volunteer, no Compensation). This evening I received the email below from the airport manager:
“Hello Gentlemen,
The FAA is requesting comments on decommissioning the NDB at Deer Park due to the number of instrument approaches out there. I doubt they will continue to support the NDB with flight checks etc. unless we come up with a compelling reason to keep it then we are likely to be financially responsible for these checks. Any comments you provide are appreciated and I will be sure to pass them on.”
   The FAA seems to be determined to get rid of NDBs.
