[ARC5] arc-5 connector

Yes. I’ve been posting it on these lists for years.

There is a fairly plentiful source for the 7-pin plug for the rear of the Command Set transmitters and receivers. Find an already junked out or even stripped chassis from an ARA or an "A" suffix SCR-274-N receiver (most if not all "B" suffix ones don't have all of the pins) (maybe AN/ARC-5 receivers, but I don't have one here at the house to check/confirm). One stripped ARA or SCR-274-N "A" suffix receiver chassis plus 6 of the correct length Pomona mini-banana pins will yield 3 connectors for the receivers and ATA and SCR-274-N transmitters and 3 connectors that will fit the AN/ARC-5 transmitters.

The three that originally plugged into the IF cans will fit the receivers and the SCR-274-N transmitters. The three that plug into the RF coil rack will fit the AN'ARC-5 transmitters.

You will have to drill a hole in the center of the mica disk to mount the center pin. This is best done on a lathe as the hole must be pretty close to centered.

The Pomona mini-banana pins come in several styles for attachment, some threaded and some riveted. You probably want the style with the stud and nut. The other variabe is the length of the brass from where it abuts the mica disk to where the banana leaves begin. Because of the way that they were made, the optimum length is different between the two versions.

On the former IF can connectors, if you carefully straighten out the crimp that you had to pry up in order to separate the connector from the chassis, you can glue an extension barrel from a standard AN or MS (MIL-C 5015) type connector onto it (ONLY AFTER you finish connecting all of the wires) and then screw on an AN3057 or 3057A cable clamp. I forget what shell size comes the closest to fitting, and you may have to bore out the threads on the extension barrel. Unfortunately, you can't do that for the ones that fit the ARC-5 transmitters because the crimp is on the pin side instead of on the solder side.
