[ARC5] connector

U-16/U is used with AN/ARC-3. It is more or less equivalent to AN 3106-24-28S or MS 3106A-24-28S and would be disassembled in the same way as for any other MIL-C-5015 connector. The only difference is that some for open wire cabling will have a plastic plate with a hole for each wire in it and some will have a standard cable clamp. Start by acquiring a 3102A-24-whatever chassis connector and removing the circlip and insert, leaving only the empty square-flange body. Mount the empty body in a vise to hold it and install the connector that you wish to disassemble in it

If the connector has an AN 3057 or 3057A cable clamp on the back, loosen the two cable clamp screws and pry the saddle bar or bars free of the cable. Hold the extension body and unscrew the clamp from it. Unscrew the threaded extension. Depending upon whether you are salvaging just the connector or both the connector and the cable, either cut the individual wires, leaving about an inch of wire attached to the pins in the connector, or carefully de-solder the wires from the contacts. Note that if at all possible, you should use soft-jaw MS connector pliers for loosening and tightening of the connector parts.
