There is a very, very interesting discussion and explanation of the final amp and antenna 
tuning setup in the BC-187 transmitter in a recent issue of ER Magazine. It explains many 
things about that circuit that I would never have thought of.

Since the BC-187 transmitter (if I don't mean the BC-186, but I think that is the receiver) was 
designed "around" (loosely) the time of the BC-230, it is certainly possible that much of that 
design philosophy leaked down into the BC-230.

I'll try to dig out that article and at least send you the issue and date.
