[ARC5] FT: FT-226-A

The SCR-274-N is not so easy to complete either. I have been looking for the FT-221 and FT-225 shock mounts for years. Otherwise I have the complete station. If anybody knows where I could get them or has them I would appreciate a note.

Good luck. The MT-71/ARC-5 is quite a lot rarer than the FT-226-A. Even more so is the connector that is on both ends of the cable from the MT-71 to the MD-7/ARC-5. The connector used on the cable from the MD-7 to the C-30A/ARC-5 (often used instead of the very rare C-29/ARC-5 even if there are no VHF components in the system) is rare as well.

It took me years and a lot of ebay searches (and purchases back when prices were at their peak) and help from other list members to track down everything I needed for my three-receiver (R-4A/ARR-2, R-26/ARC-5, R-28/ARC-5), two-transmitter (T-20/ARC-5, T-23/ARC-5) system. It is a typical VHF ZB-Homing, plus single-channel lock-tuned HF Comms, plus four-channel VHF Comms system used in late single-seat carrier-based aircraft. The system uses the C-38/ARC-5 receiver control box, the C-30A/ARC-5 transmitter control box, and the J-16/ARC-5 audio jack box. It is an early example of integrated avionics. It's a stunning advance over the three-receiver two-transmitter SCR-274-N, but the SCR-274-N is much much easier and less-expensive to assemble today.

I would like to trade my FT-226-A for an MT-71 rack.

The FT-226 is in nice shape and complete.

    Pix available upon request.
