Mike-

It seems to be an AT-82 for the APX-1, It is different from my AT-82A (Mine is the same base, but with a plain stainless steel whip) It appears that the phenolic base was used on a variety of VHF/UHF whips.

Mike. it appears to be the AT-5/AR that is the 246 MHz antenna for the AN/ARR-1 homing adapter (JAN-nomenclatured ZB-2 or -3 homing adapter).

If you can remove the paint on the bottom surface of the base, you'll likely find the nomenclature stamped into the metal. Then you'll know for sure.

There is an AT-8/AR that is almost identical in construction, but much longer for optional use with AN/ARC-1, -4, and -5 VHF command sets in the 100 to 156 MHz band.

Does anyone recognize this antenna and know what it was used for?

There are no markings on any part of this antenna. The yellow mast is 15-1/2 inches long and screws onto a 1/4-28 stud in the base.

The base has a standard UHF connector.

Maybe target drone or something like that? Mike W6MAB
