Here's the ARC-2A I'm hoping to offer sometime
soon. I get 15 minutes here and there to work on
it, so one of these days, I guess. Sorry for the
lousy pic, but when the list is limited to 30K
photos, low-rez is about it. I got the meter
fixed. The problem was the front spiral "clock
spring" was, for some reason, up against the
forward movement mounting frame. I just blew on
the movement and the spring snapped back in the
proper place. Lubed it, cleaned the case (careful
not to put pressure on the glass or it will come
out). Seems to be OK now.
Got a problem I'm hoping someone has seen: When I
key the set in AM mode, then release the PTT, the
receive level is low, like it was not muted and
the TX signal has railed the AVC voltage. It
starts to come back up, but after a couple of
seconds, it pops back to normal, for all the world
like a sticking TR relay letting go.
There's also a leak of low B+ somewhere, indicated
by static noises. That may be moisture related.
Going to pull the dynamotor (must be out of my
mind!) and leave it with the filaments running for
a couple of days to dry out any moisture. Then
use an external low B+ source to determine if the
leak is in the dynamotor (happens) or in the set.
A single, leaky cap can do it. We'll see.
Here's a video of it receiving WWCR on 4840:

Hope I'll get to work on it again soon. We'll
see.
