Jack,
Does this have anything to do with the two "versions" of the BC-348? And is this mentioned in Ken Corwin's write up?
Thanks,
Jay

Subject: [ARC5] BC-348 obscure trivia
In poking around various BC-348s, I
have discovered that the MVC section
of the volume control has a linear
taper on some radios, and an audio
taper on others.
Problem with the linear taper is that
the large majority of the gain reduction
takes place in a very narrow range.
But, Murphy's law dictates, that this
very narrow range is where the "sweet
spot" for best CW and SSB reception
lies.
Anyone know the reason for the two
different types? When ordering
replacements, did someone forget
to specify audio taper?
