In years past, I have "won", or placed high, in all sorts of DX contests using either my Collins 75S-3A receiver, Collins 32S-3 transmitter, and Henry / Tempo 2001 amplifier or my Heath SB-301 receiver, Heath SB-401 transmitter, and Heath SB-200 amplifier. These day, I no longer have the stamina to operate for the full 2-days of most contests. So, I now just operate a few hours, off and on, during the time period to make sure my equipment is still working fine!

Depending on the contest, I may use different equipment "for the fun of it"!

Hi Mark,
Your attitude regarding contests is similar to mine. I don't enter them
to win. I enter them to have some fun and maybe give some more points to
one of the winners :) Field day is especially fun. Besides the operating
there are field day hot dogs and other edible goodies and some good
socializing.
