It seems that in general the USN and US Army liked to use JTDS system nomenclature, wheras the USAF not so hidebound, and often used civilian equipment designations.

The 1950 vintage C-119 manual I have shows that both the
USAF and the USN versions of the airplane were equipped with ART-13 and
BC-348.  However, only for with the Navy airplanes is the
installation called "ARC-8" with the BC-348 called "ARC-8 Receiver."   The
Navy airplanes also had an LM Freq Meter.
 
It is about 10MB and thus e-mailable if anyone wants a
copy of the 119 manual.
