Oh, I have plenty of glow-in-the-dark enthusiasm, especially when we have OAT of around freezing. But the ARC-114 and ARC-116 are fully solid state transceivers. They came out in the late 1960s' and in size and weight are nearly identical to the control box of an ARC-27. Incidentally, I have verified that the ARC-116 works on 220 MHZ

Unfortunately while there power supply requirements are fairly modest at about 2 amps at 27.5 VDC during transmit, I have not been able to find a suitable transformer that will fit in the power supply/interface box I built and will have a LV AC power cord running to a hefty power supply originally designed to charge electric wheelchairs.

I considered a set of computer speakers, but since I already have a mostly empty power supply/interface box, I may has well use that.

I ordered an audio preamp kit from Fair Radio but I'm going to look in the Forest Mims Radio Shack book for a design. By the way, take a look here: https://archive.org/search.php?query=Forrest%20Mims

Thanks!
