Robert, Wayne:

the first "Omnirange" vhf receivers looked just like the AN/ARC-5
receivers, with a  dial, MX-21 adapter plugged into the front (where a
C-24 local control could also go) and painted in black wrinkle paint,
unlike the Type 12, AN/ARN-30, etc.  which had no dial nor a place to
plug in  a local control . The instruction book I have which pictures
the equipment is dated June 26, 1947.

The semi-hacked receiver I have is one of these, missing the
housing that the local control plugs into, the bottom plate, the cover
over the tubes  and the lid for that cover.

The vhf front end has been hacked by having the housing underneath
that fits over the tuned circuits taken off and the whole front end unit
at one time was taken out (wires cut) and crudely put back. I have a
"good" (supposedly) front end unit with the 108-135 mc dial I plan to
put in its place.

I have an An/ARN-30 "converter" that might possibly work with this
receiver, and the to-from indicator, crossed needle instrument and the
course selector that I'm going to see if I can make to work together.
I'll have to cobble up the J-11 junction box, the F-10 filter and the
rack, but they should be do-able.

I'll be thankful for any parts that you could contribute
