If someone wishes to go to the effort, we could settle the question of the MO’s contribution by disconnecting the MO at its connection to the grid coil and driving the transmitter externally.   Modulate and look at the sidebands.  Shouldn’t be hard if one has an external VFO with a little heft in its output.
