And as a point of interest, the USS Batfish is a museum ship at Muskogee, Oklahoma!  Ham radio operation is conducted there occasionally.  There is ham radio club associated with the Batfish Museum.

In reference to shipboard use of the APR-1, Price's Vol. I of The History of US Electronic Warfare gives a detailed accounting of the use of an APR-1 as a homing receiver in the sinking of three Japanese submarines by the USS Batfish in a period of three nights during early 1945.
