[ARC5] Subject: Strange "ARC-5" Tuning Knob

I have a couple of these type knobs, except:

o mine do not have the 2 threaded holes

and

o mine is marked "6743".

These work very well on my "ARC-5" Rx's.

I don't recall ever seeing this type of knob before

with the two threaded holes, and identified as a

"MC-237-A".

That said, I am flabbergasted to see that 2 similar

knobs have a higher asking price on eBay now:

$79. 95 and $95.... And there's one lower at $47.

Wasn't too long ago that you could find these knobs

on eBay for $25, and I thought that was too high.

But then my comparison is this. About 60 years ago

I purchased a "junk box of electronic parts" from

Burstein-Applebee for about $2.00. Included in the

box of capacitors, resistors, connectors, spaghetti

insulation, wire, and other "stuff" was a spline tuning

knob. Even though they were available back then at

surplus stores like Fair Radio and G&G Sales in NYC

for 50 cents, I thought I'd won the lottery! I was a

happy camper then, and I'm a happy camper now!!
