Peter, I have worried about that too, but I've been told that it is a non-problem.  Somewhere I have a relay that looks like a glass tube, uses an octal socket and that has a built in 300 sec delay time.  I assume it was built to delay the B+, but then again it was part of a 1950's radar station, so there may have been other reasons.
