If it’s not hot the filament is dead.

A few weeks ago, my SCR-274N VHF receiver was dead.
First thing was confirm A+ and B+.  Then I felt of each metal tube.
Sure enough, two of them were cold (two 12V fils in series).  First one I tested was the open filament.  Replaced it and the Air Traffic control guys came back.
