There was a receiver used in the B-29's that covered the whole frequency range of the ART-13 LF oscillators : The ADF receiver.

And as jeepp theorizes, the LF capability of the ART-13, combined with the ADF's that each B-29 carried, enabled aircraft to serve as a homing beacon for rendezvous. This included rendezvous to provide rescue support to downed aircrew. B-29's in the Pacific carried a small Emergency Locator Transmitters that worked in the AM BCB band, so B-29's could home in on them if an aircraft went down and then serve as a beacon for rescue aircraft to home in on.

The 21st Air Force Combat Operations manual describes this and says that something like one out of every three B-29 aircraft will be equipped with the ART-13 LF transmit capability.

By the way, one of the odd things about that LF oscillator is that it uses a 1625 tube for the oscillator.
