Bill,Your commentary is correct in that the LF unit bypasses the driver stages.  However, it also bypasses the internal HF output tank circuit. The 813 output is then directed to an outboard tuning circuit that you mentioned.  There has been discussion of using the ART-13 potentially on the new LF band.  I do not know what modes, cw certainly, will be permitted, nor power levels. Unlike the crystal control modules, the LF units are essentially plug-and-play with the addition of the necessary outboard tuner.  Value?  They look nice when preset but are of arguable actual usefulness, all said.  But, who knows, maybe the venerable ART-13 with an LF plug-in will be the latest diamond-in-the-rough.Jeep K3HVG

Some ART-13s and ART-13 LF and HF VFOs have been donated to our club.
Does any one have any idea of value of the LF VFO.  If you have a ART-13 you can transmit
down as low as 200kHZ with the LF VFO and a LF antenna coupler. I found it interesting.
When you switch to the LF VFO the other stages are bypassed and it feeds the 813 directly.
