[ARC5] Cap Restuffing

I've never had the desire to restuff a cap but I'm trying it with the GRC-9 receiver I'm working on. There is one big 2-section "twist lock" electrolytic in the middle of the chassis. I want to change out the electrolytics but that one was going to be a bear due to its use as a junction point.

I cut the top half of the cap can off with a Dremal tool cut off wheel and extracted the contents. Disappointed that I had no place to solder replacements to inside, I drilled holes through the phenolic bottom of the cap next to the solder tabs. This gave me a place to run wires down to the old cap solder tabs from inside. I'll probably even glue the top of the can back on.

I'm still trying to figure out how to mount the new IF transformers and BFO coil. I planned to use 1/4 inch thick nylon as a spacer but I don't think that will work. Maybe I can drill the mounting holes a bit wider to enable the coil leads to reach under the chassis without shorting out.
