There are two circular "nuts" with screening in them which have to be removed too. I have 
forgotten exactly where they are, but they should be obvious. They are also right next to 
one-another. As I remember it, they are between 2" and 3" in diameter. The edges are 
knurled.

Mine are bare aluminum, but yours might be painted. They are the air intake/outlet for the 
cooling for, I believe, the dynamotor.

Yes, the outer case is very light-weight. Nothing needs to be "forced" to get it off, though.

I think you will be impressed by the build-quality when you see the insides. :-)
