[ARC5] [Milsurplus] UPS Rates Going Up 5%

Hi Scott,
There is a bus stop facility 2 miles from my home and a much bigger
'terminal' about 25 miles away. That is much closer than Timbuktu! Glen
Zook says he paid more for shipping on the bus than at FedEx. I wonder
if he took the exact same package to both places. Other people with
Greyhound experiences? Going to a bus station is not a big deal for me.
The small items I send by first class USPS do not play into this
discussion. I have offered some larger items with local pickup preferred
(due to expense of shipping and crude handling by gorillas) but no
takers. The Wednesday shipping crew takes them away to never-never-land
for me along with all my other unwanted schtough.
73,

>> Retail shipping rates are insanely high compared to large shipments. This leads me to believe there is a market for warehouse to warehouse shipping where you bring your package to a shipping center (they make retail customers do this now, but there might be fewer of them local to you) and the package is moved to a warehouse within 10 miles of the recipient. If the last few delivery miles are really that insanely expensive then this should work, right? Or is it that to compete for the big commercial clients the shippers are operating at a loss and making retail customers pay for it? If so, there is room for a competitor like a package or LTL Uber freight kind of thing.
