Ah yes. I should have remembered that. I have most of an AN/TRC-1 and the manuals here.
I also have several of the 200 watt amplifiers, the AM-8/TRC-1, NIB here.No power supplies
for them though.
Those are interesting amplifiers, to be sure. They have a pair of 4E27s in them. They are
easy to convert to cover either (or both) 6 meters and 2 meters by the use of two capacitors,
ony. The later 5-125 can replace the 4E27. I have always considered the 4E27 to be a rather
"delicate" tube. Not much support for the plate connection.
Reading the history and deployment of the TRC-1 is very, very interesting. Apparently, one
thing it accomplished was a very reliable RTTY network for Eisenhower during and after
Normandy. I think the system was first tried out in Sicily, in fact.
As I remember it, Link had a lot to do with its development and implementation.
