In the 'carcass collection' lie the remains of a T15 and a t17. The little rectangular hole for the wires is exactly where expected. Hmmmm.

Subject: [ARC5] Oddball ARC-5 T-16 Transmitter

Oddball T-16 Transmitter.
I'm working to revive an AN/ARC-5 T-16 transmitter
for a friend. It has a few issues I'm addressing.
No drill holes, good paint and looks very recoverable
with a little work.

The transmitter's Antenna Switching relay is absent.
Not unusual in itself; there are other signs of a visit
by the "Ham-burgler" in the rig. Was going to replace
it when I noticed something strange. Normally, there
is a small notch through the chassis, behind the front
panel on the radio's Port side. This gives passage
to the two wires that connect the Antenna relay.
But in this transmitter, there is no notch. No wires
going forward. No little "keeper" that usually holds
them down to the underside of the chassic next to
the side wall. And no evidence of wires having
been removed from where these two usually connect.

It appears this radio was produced with no antenna
relay installed. I find that difficult to accept, but
the fact of the missing chassis notch, etc. is clear.
There simply isn't a way to pass the two wires
to the chassis underside.

I've never seen this. Any ideas?
