I just looked at one of my T-16s and this one does have the relay. 73 – Mike

This is probably not news to you but I was surprised to learn that on ARC-5 manula page 135/136 they group transmitter over-all control wiring for Types 18 to 22.
types T-15 through T-17 are described separately . T-16 is on page 139/140 ( pdf page 153).
The common characteristic is that the antenna relay control of t-15 to t-17 is not wired with the select switch, but is controlled by it's own dedicated plug input.
Since these must have had a different antenna system than the t-18 to 22 group, I suppose it is conceivable that no antenna relay was used if it was a "solo" MF transmitter installation.
>From prior discussions, I don't think we are sure what these "special purpose" transmitters were used for originally, so anything is possible.
Does it look like a "factory " interface from the inductor to the antenna? Got Pix? Are there relay mount holes? Inquiring minds want to know as I have never personally seen one of these transmitters!

Oddball T-16 Transmitter.
I'm working to revive an AN/ARC-5 T-16 transmitter
for a friend. It has a few issues I'm addressing.
No drill holes, good paint and looks very recoverable
with a little work.
The transmitter's Antenna Switching relay is absent.
Not unusual in itself; there are other signs of a visit
by the "Ham-burgler" in the rig. Was going to replace
it when I noticed something strange. Normally, there
is a small notch through the chassis, behind the front
panel on the radio's Port side. This gives passage
to the two wires that connect the Antenna relay.
But in this transmitter, there is no notch. No wires
going forward. No little "keeper" that usually holds
them down to the underside of the chassic next to
the side wall. And no evidence of wires having
been removed from where these two usually connect.
It appears this radio was produced with no antenna
relay installed. I find that difficult to accept, but
the fact of the missing chassis notch, etc. is clear.
There simply isn't a way to pass the two wires
to the chassis underside.
I've never seen this. Any ideas?
