If Osterman's book shows the 75A-4 was introduced in 1958, then he was drinking something, pretty strong, when he wrote that!
The 75A-4 was introduced in October of 1954 along with the 30L-1 transmitter. However, the name of the 30L-1 transmitter was very soon changed to KWS-1. A 4-page color advertisement, that includes the 30L-1 transmitter, appears in the 1955 ARRL Radio Amateur's Handbook which was printed late in 1954. The 75S-1 / 75S-2 receivers were introduced late in 1957.

According to Osterman's book, the 75A-4 was introduced in 1958 and the NC-109 was introduced in 1957.
