Some years ago I bought some of those "anti-fatigue mats" sold for shop 
use to make it more comfortable while standing on concrete floors.  I've 
found they provide a secondary benefit too - they're basically about 
1/2" thick rubber filled with big holes and about 90% of screws and 
parts I drop ends up being caught in one of them rather than bouncing, 
rolling, or richocheting into the 4th dimension never to be seen again.  
(That's where all dropped SMT parts go, however, nothing can change that!).

And whether you use pill bottles, altoid tins, baggies, or whatever for 
holding those screws you remove from something, the secret is to never 
mark what they came from, that way you'll have lots of added mental 
stimulation trying to figure it out days or weeks later!
