Nonsense. It looks to be in **very good** condition for an R1155A. Very nice indeed, Dave!

Nothing at all suggests that any repainting is required. All of the panel paint is intact.

My R1155B is also perfectly intact, but had dirt and grime like Dave's. A little warm water with some Murphy's Oil Soap got the heavy crap off. After drying, an application of Break Free-CLP restored the original look of almost fresh paint. I did that 15 years ago and it still looks the same...Break Free-CLP is amazing stuff.

My R1155B (same as R1155A plus anti-radar interference filtering) has a modification record plate that shows mod 157/1 was applied 5.6.45 (5 June 1945). I don't know what that mod did. It was obviously depot reconditioned (FTR?) post war...it's in excellent condition inside and out, after panel dirt was removed. My unit has the improved Type 35 vernier dial instead of the original Type 13. There are two white circular paint stamps plus a red "R/2/54" on the front panel. Until I hear from someone who knows better, I'm assuming that means it was FTR'd in February 1954.

One that is just like mine (except for having the earlier Type 13 vernier dial and more paint flecks) and only a few hundred serial numbers away is shown here:

It's an interesting set. Although there are three Jones-type plugs on the front, if the DF unit and loop antenna are not used, only the right-most connector is used to make all electrical connections, including fixed and trailing-wire antennas.

Inside views. The DF circuits are intact and
the wire insulation is nearly all good. Woo Hoo!
