[ARC5] Removing Knob White Stuff?

I had some of that on the knobs for an NC-270.  I just scraped it off with little jeweler's screwdriver.

Standard USAF practice for removing the white scum that evolves out of oxygen mask plastic is to dump it in boiling water.  Maybe that would work on the knobs.
