[ARC5] Removing Knob White Stuff?

Try using a penetrating oil like WD-40, Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster.
Wipe it on the knob with a cloth dampened in your favorite elixer, then scrub-n-rub.  It won't hurt metal or bakelite knobs, but be a little cautious with plastic ones, especially when using PB Blaster.  Also, PB Blaster should be used with plenty of ventilation, preferably outside.
