Reading the Green Books and IEE "Crystal Clear", it appears that the
most prolific years of manufacture were 1943 and 1944. 1942 was a
ramp-up with lots of orders. The principle quantity units, from what I
can glean, were for the BC-611, BC-659, and BC-620, and BC-1335. These
had large kits associated with them. Now, other radios used the FT-243
such as the BC-1306 , the pogo-stick, and a myraid of other units. But,
the FT-243 "spec" was the same. The list of almost 100 companies is
impressive. The story of Leo Myerson's first big order is
interesting... talk about pigeon to hawk, overnight.
