The headphones may be possible clue to dating. The round ear pads
look like the earlier pads used for both the older magnetic type phones
and the ANBH-1 type. These were supplanted by the oval kind with chamois
covers. I don't have a date for this but think it must have been around
1942 or a bit later. However, who knows what equipment may have been
used because it was available.
I have been on board both the B-17 and B-24 that fly around giving
rides (didn't ride on it). I don't know if these were modified but are
almost completely devoid of creature comforts. Just visiting will give
you some idea of what it must have been like to fly dozens of missions
in these things with people shooting at you.
