The CPI is a basket of CONSUMER goods and services, such as transportation, food and medical care.I doubt it includes WWII radios.Additionally, it is an economic measure, not an accounting measure

Good to know that. The 303 British makes about the same size hole then.
But, I was planning on using a 50-70 buffalo rifle so I could hype it as
coming from a P-51 that was shot down by Indians when flying too low over
the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Ought to get some really
good bids on that!

The bidders will never believe something that outrageous. Tell them it was a P40 instead. They'll buy that.

Building a BFO for that GE multiband receiver was one of my very first ham radio projects. I found a circuit for a BFO using a single PNP transistor and 455 KHZ IF coil in an old issue of 73 Magazine and tried building it using Radio Shack parts. Did not work, so I called my Mom and asked her to mail me a big old NOS Millen IF transformer I picked up when the university threw some stuff out. It worked! What an accomplishment!
Then I found out about selectivity. That GE covers 160 KHZ to 18 MHZ plus the FM band - and a ham band was about 1/2 inch wide or less. I managed to tune in SSB with it just once. I still have that radio and was tickled when last year one showed up on that TV show "The AmeriCans" being used by spies to receive Soviet messages.
I next bought an assortment of tube type IF coils from Meshna and made a few more oscillators. I need to find where I put those because I need them to install in a GRC-9 receiver that is missing some.

Using CPI is an accountant's way of guessing costs. Using CPI makes the
unstated assumption that the costs of everything move at exactly the same
rate over time, and that cost is exactly equivalent to sell price. Both
assumptions are painfully, obviously incorrect.
The true value of any goods or services is what the market is willing to
pay. So, let's stop playing silly buggers, eh?

Someone on here was looking for a Command Set receiver antenna post a while
back. This afternoon, I finally got around to going through a box on my
patio that I knew had some receiver top, bottom, tube and capacitor covers.
In a crumbling plastic bag, I found maybe a dozen antenna posts with "A"
engraved on the black end, at least with "L" and one or two with nothing
engraved. If anyone still needs one or more, price is $2.50 each plus postage.
Also found four (I think) of the remote control LOOP/ANTENNA switches, and a
couple of the covers and screw-on caps. Switch $2.50, cover/cap $1.50.
