…. He thinks that it's money laundering.

Long ago when I lived in rural Nevada, I was just a couple of miles

from several famous (infamous?) “cat houses.” The “Cherry Patch”

and “Sheri’s Ranch” were at the end of the road through

my neighborhood. Wasn’t much further to “The Chicken Ranch.”

No; I never purchased any “services”

but I did pay attention, and it was fun to play pool with

friends who wanted to tell their pals back in Itchybutt, Minnesota

that they’d been to a “house of sin and iniquity.”

You’d think from all the hype and reputation, the places would

be jumping; it takes a lot of cash-flow to pay for those compounds

and support all those “workers,” but the houses actually had few

clients. Even on a weekend night, the parking lots rarely had more

than one vehicle in them at any one time. However, at least once

a month, a private aircraft would land at their private airfield and

some well-dressed men with an abundance of luggage would

come for an extended “visit.”

Given that no “customer” (a.k.a. “John”) is required to identify

himself as one would at a hotel, and given the hyped, false impression

in the public of the places doing a steady and robust “business,”

given it was obvious there was not sufficient “legit” traffic to support

the places, and that it would be easy to enter thousands of dollars

worth of fake transactions in the books for every night,

I concluded that they were really giant money-laundering schemes.
